Shelter Building Skills: Participants will learn the fundamentals of constructing various types of shelters. This includes understanding the principles of structural design and the use of different materials. The goal is to equip campers with the knowledge to create shelters that are not only functional but also innovative, using natural and recycled materials. 

Fashion and Design Insights: Campers will dive into the basics of fashion design, learning how to sketch designs, select fabrics, and understand color theory. This activity nurtures creativity and encourages participants to express their personal style through clothing creation. They’ll also gain practical skills in sewing and assembling outfits, preparing them to bring their vision to life. 

Creative Problem-Solving: Throughout the day, challenges will be presented that require creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Whether designing a shelter that can withstand certain elements or creating a garment with limited resources, participants will need to think outside the box and innovate. 

Teamwork and Collaboration: Many of the day’s activities will be team-based, encouraging collaboration and communication among campers. This not only enhances the learning experience but also helps build social skills and friendships. Working together to achieve a common goal is a core aspect of the camp, reflecting the importance of teamwork in both shelter building and fashion design. 

Confidence and Presentation Skills: At the end of the camp, participants will have the opportunity to present their shelter designs and fashion creations. This helps develop their confidence and public speaking skills, as they articulate the thought process behind their designs and receive feedback from peers and mentors. 

Appreciation for Sustainability: Emphasizing the use of sustainable materials in both shelter construction and clothing design, the camp aims to instill an appreciation for environmentally friendly practices. Participants will learn how sustainable approaches can be integrated into daily life and creative endeavors.

Acitivity 1: Shelter Building Contest

Participants can split into teams to compete in constructing temporary shelters using provided materials such as bamboo, tarps, and ropes. This activity encourages creativity and practical problem-solving, as each team designs a shelter that is both aesthetic and functional. The challenge could include criteria like sustainability, innovation, and quick construction. Experienced survivalists or architects could judge the shelters based on these criteria and provide feedback to enhance learning. 

Activity 2: Recycled Fashion Show

Equip campers with a variety of recyclable materials—old clothes, scraps of fabric, plastic items—and challenge them to create high-fashion outfits. This activity promotes sustainability while allowing participants to express their style and creativity. At the end of the designing process, a runway show could be held where participants model their creations. This not only adds an element of excitement but also raises awareness about recycling and upcycling in fashion.

Activity 3: DIY Accessory Workshop

Host a workshop where participants can create their own accessories, such as hats, belts, or jewelry from unconventional materials. This activity encourages innovation and allows campers to showcase personal style. Guidance can be provided by fashion designers or craft artists, who can introduce various techniques like weaving, braiding, or beading. The workshop can culminate in a small exhibit where participants display and talk about their creations, promoting a sense of accomplishment and sharing of ideas.
