Activity 1: Hoi An Heritage Project

Campers are grouped and assigned different aspects of Hoi An’s heritage to focus on, such as the preservation of its Ancient Town, the promotion of traditional crafts like lantern-making, or the sustainability of its culinary traditions. Each group collaborates with local experts and historians to develop a practical initiative that contributes to preserving these elements. The project ends with a presentation in the Assembly Hall of the Fujian Chinese Congregation, where they share their proposals with local stakeholders and other campers, fostering a practical understanding of leadership in cultural preservation.

Activity 2: Artisan Apprentice Workshop

This workshop links participants with master artisans from Hoi An. Each camper chooses a traditional craft to explore, such as silk lantern crafting, ceramic pottery from Thanh Ha Pottery Village, or woodworking. Guided by artisans, campers learn the craft’s history and techniques, create their own pieces, and discuss how these crafts contribute to Hoi An’s identity and economy. This activity is designed to appreciate and sustain Hoi An’s unique arts, fostering a connection between traditional skills and contemporary appreciation.

Activity 3: Cultural Leadership Walk

Participants take a historical and cultural walking tour through Hoi An’s Ancient Town, visiting landmarks like the Japanese Covered Bridge, Tan Ky House, and the vibrant local markets. At each landmark, they engage in leadership discussions focused on historical figures from Hoi An and the lessons their legacies provide for modern-day leadership. This trek not only educates campers about Hoi An’s rich history but also challenges them to apply these historical insights to enhance their leadership philosophy.
