Visit the only Australian military base from the Vietnam War on this full-day tour from Ho Chi Minh City. Travel through the countryside to Nui Dat to visit the base of the first Australian Task Force and learn about the Battle Of Long Tan.
Start the trip with Long Phuoc Tunnels system in Long Phuoc commune, Ba Ria town. These tunnel clusters are interconnected by spine route, with secret tunnel containing reserved food with the fighting fortifications. We will go to the site of Long Tan Battlefield where you will visit the former first Australian Task Force at Nui Dat. In a somber moment, we will visit the Australian Memorial established at Long Tan for the 17 Australian Infantrymen and 1 APC crewman killed in action during the Battle of Long Tan on August 18, 1966. We then visit Long Phuoc Commune Kindergarten, originally started as a way for the Vietnam Vets to help the local children and Jason's house at Nui Dat. Jason is an ex Vet (Timor not Vietnam) who maintains the historical sites, has a small museum at his home and teaches English to local kids for free. We then visit Nui Dat Hill which is a former 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF Base), including Luscombe Airfield, this was home to the Australian military during the Vietnam War. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before going back to Ho Chi Minh City.
