HALF-DAY MARBLE MOUNTAINS & LINH UNG PAGODA FROM DA NANG

The Marble Mountains are a cluster of five marble and limestone mountains which are named after the five elements. Stone steps carved into the mountain lead to a Buddhist Pagoda. You can also discover stunning caves and enjoy the beautiful view from the mountain top. Next, you will go to Am Phu Cave where there is a replica of “Heaven and Hell”, Marble Mountains are also home to Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village, which is a unique craft village. Situated at the foot of the Marble Mountains, this craft village has a proud history covering more than 200 years.
We will head north to visit the Son Tra Peninsula. It is 693-meter high above sea level and 10-kilometer from the center of Da Nang City to the North-East. Pay a visit to Son Tra Linh Ung Pagoda, considered one of the biggest pagodas in Da Nang City. The most striking feature of this vast pagoda is its huge Lady Buddha statue, which is one of the tallest in Vietnam and spectacularly dominates the skyline. You can contemplate the whole city, Son Tra peninsula as well as the Marble Mountains along with white sand-bank. The beautiful landscape creates a unique impression that you cannot find in other places.

Fascinating temple complex, but pretty hard on the legs because of all the steps. Whilst our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable he was difficult to understand as his pronunciation was poor.

They are very close to Da Nang city and nice places to visit. A 3-hour tour was just about the right amount of time. The tour guide knew her history and did an excellent job explaining things to everyone.

The morning we embarked on this tour was a rainy one and we were thoroughly swaddled up under our raincoats and umbrellas but this did not dampen our spirits. Previous to the tour, the tour company had been very helpful via WhatsApp with arranging a hotel pick-up amongst other things. Our guide, Eric, was outstanding and full of fascinating facts and history of Vietnam, as well as providing insights regarding Vietnamese culture and day-to-day life. There are a few steps on this tour which may prove troublesome to those with mobility issues, but anyone of average fitness and ability should be more than able to conquer the heights of both the Marble Mountain and Son Tra!All in all, an excellent tour that helps you to see many sights and learn a lot of history all whilst only taking up half a day!

Our tour guide Thao spoke excellent English and was very informative about the history. We were the only ones in the tour. We visited Lady Buddha at Monkey Mountain first thing to beat the crowds - good decision as many busloads of tourists turned up as we were leaving. We then headed back to Marble Mountain visiting a marble shop where you could buy many small to large marble items. We then walked across the road to Marble Mountain. There is a lift half way up the mountain, then you have to walk up, down and around the rest of the tour. Very interesting and worthwhile

Our afternoon tour started with the Lady Buddha. Our guide was very informative and had a great sense of humor. She provided water as we needed it on this very warm day.Marble Mountain was our next stop. The shrines and caves were amazing. Again, our guide was very gracious and gave us the time we wanted at each place. Alas, the heat and our ages slowed us down to the point that we needed to rest. The guide worried she had done something wrong but that was not the case. She was very wonderful. And I highly recommend her. Oh, and the driver stopped at a convenience store on the way back to the hotel so we could get supplies. This was a lovely tour.

Fomos para essa parada durante uma viagem longa de Hue para Hoi An. Não pareci muito promissora, mas foi bem legal. Para chegar na parte visitável, pode-se ir de elevador (pago) ou de escada. Em ambos, é necessário pagar a entrada também. Lá em cima, inicialmente parece que não há muito a ver, mas conforme se anda pelos monumentos, vários caminhos se abrem e a área é grande. Existem alguns templos e várias escadarias com vistas para a região. A estrutura para turismo deixa um pouco a desejar, mas explorar a atração vale a pena. Na base da montanha, existem várias lojas com produtos feitos a base de mármore.

We got super lucky and it was just us with our lovely guide Bee and driver Nam. We loved the tour and Bee was an exceptional guide. She was full of energy and so much knowledge, we learned so much about the Marble Mountains and the Buddhist and Taoist cultures. We loved hearing Bee's stories from her childhood also, she was just so lovely, she even gave us some yummy home made snacks as we were exploring the area around Lady Buddha. We easily could have spent all day with Bee but the half day was enough to explore both sites. The view from Lady Buddha over the peninsula is gorgeous! There is a lot of stairs, we didnt mind, but if you have mobility issues Marble Mountain might be a little difficult. Not impossible, but just be prepared for lots of uneven stairs. We highly recommend this tour and tour company, we hope if you do decide to take this wonderful tour you get to meet Bee, she is truly an asset to this company and we feel so lucky to have spent the afternoon with her.

"An amazing place to see and definitely worth spending half day here. Some parts of the cave system are quite tough to climb and with so many visitors it does become risky and having to wait for people in front. Would recommend seeing this and avoiding the tourist traps like souvenirs shops etc unless one wants to purchase items."

Both the Marble Mountains and the Pagoda are well worth seeing, just not with the guide we had. The Viator description of the guide speaking English was a stretch at best, we managed to understand maybe 1 word in 10 (English is our first language). Really enjoyed the Pagoda for the first 30 minutes. The next 45 minutes of waiting for our guide to return was not so enjoyable. The itinerary managed to omit the requisite stop at a garden statue place where they try and sell you life size marble garden ornaments. The Marble Mountains themselves are impressive, just a pity that we couldn’t ask the guide any questions due to the language barrier. Overall was useful to have some one drive us to the different places and arrange entry, but if you want an informative tour guide than best look elsewhere.

Mot (Tom) waited patiently for us to finish our (late) breakfast at the hotel which made us feel less stressed about the situation. Because there were no other people who signed up for the group tour, we had him all to ourselves! He was a wealth of local knowledge and having him as a tour guide definitely made our visit to the Marble Mountain and Lady Buddha much more personal. I highly recommend asking for Tom as your tour guide!
