One of the most stunning sights to see in the area is My Son, Vietnam’s most important site of the ancient kingdom of Champa. Between the 4th and 13th century a unique culture which owed its spiritual origins to Indian Hinduism developed on the coast of contemporary Vietnam. This is graphically illustrated by the remains of a series of impressive tower-temples located in a dramatic site that was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom for most of its existence. Located in the heart of a beautiful valley and surrounded by high mountains ranges My Son was named a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999. Originally built with wood, they were completely destroyed by fire in the 6th century and restored in the 7th century by Sambhuvarman who rebuilt the temples with locally made bricks. Up to the 13th century, more than 70 similar temples were built, establishing My Son as a sanctuary of Hinduism in the Champa Kingdom. Overnight in Hoi An.
Start the tour with a boat trip to Cam Kim Village. We will head to the Family Temple and discover the beautiful riverside and capture the local fishermen’s lives on their boats. Especially, you will have chance to experience the Bamboo Bridges along the river. Passing by green, quiet roads gives you some time to absorb the countryside fresh air, to calm down your mind, to capture the peaceful lives of local people. The tour guide will give you some interesting information about the local plants, herbs and vegetables along the way. Then, we will stop to meet a local family who will show you how to make colorful sleeping mats. You will try your hand at the making mats techniques by yourself. After that, we continue with a ride to another local family to see how to make rice papers and rice crackers. You will have a light lunch here to recharge after a long way on bicycles. We will drive back and take a short stop at a local riverside drinking shop, where you will have some sugarcane glasses to calm down after a long road. After that, we will head to the harbor and turn back to Hoi An city.
In the afternoon, The Marble Mountains is a popular sightseeing location in Da Nang because of its alluring beauty. Stone steps carved into the mountain lead to a Buddhist Pagoda. You can also discover stunning caves and enjoy the beautiful view from the top of the mountain. Upon arrival to the mountain, we will climb up the stone stairs and visit the caves and pagodas as well as admire the beautiful panoramic view. We will then head down the mountain and visit the stone village where the skilled local sculptors create many marble products. Overnight in Hoi An.
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Da Nang International airport to go to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport, pick up and transfer to the hotel. Check in and relax. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
A trip to Mekong Delta offers a glimpse into the unique and distinct agrarian life of the vibrant southern Delta region. We will enjoy a cruise along the Mekong River to one of the Islands (located in the town of My Tho) where we will be entertained with traditional music while enjoying some tea sweetened with bee’s honey and seasonal fresh fruits.
We will then take a paddle-boat to cruise through the narrow canals of the Mekong. One interesting thing about transportation in this region is that mostly everybody here travels by boats or ships because the number of canals is very interlaced. Here a system of transportation on water is developed so much. By travelling on canals, we can discover many distinct things such as along with the banks, a number of coconut trees grow side by side.
The paddle-boat ride provides an interesting look into the local cottage industry of making coconut candies. We will then have a lunch of ‘Elephant-Ear Fish’ combined with other delicious Vietnamese dishes - a local specialty. Hopefully, you can enjoy the fresh and comfortable atmosphere through your trip. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Cu Chi Tunnels, a network of tunnels stretching over 250 kilometers, have proven to be one of the most famous and historical aspects of the Vietnam War. The tunnel system was created in 1948 to assist the Viet Minh as they fought the French for independence. Digging and building of tunnels continued over the next 25 years until it was an underground city with living areas, kitchens, storage, weapons factories, field hospitals and command centers. The tunnels could house thousands of people who lived almost entirely underground for years. There, people led relatively normal lives, which included getting married and raising children. During the American War, the entire area of Cu Chi was designated as a free fire zone; and was therefore, heavily attacked and bombed. In 1988, two sections of tunnels were opened up for visitors. Now you have the chance to enjoy this wonderful and informative experience. Created with “moving parts” these structures were designed to be liveable for long periods of time.
And for those who are interested, there is an opportunity for you to fire off rounds from a war era M16 or AK47 at the nearby firing range. (This activity is optional; Fees for firing range are not included). Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Have breakfast at the hotel and relax until the time of transfer to Tan Son Nhat International airport for your departure flight.
