13:00 One of the most stunning sights to see in Hoi An area is My Son, Viet Nam’s most important site of the ancient kingdom of Champa. Between the 4th and 13th centuries a unique culture which owed its spiritual origins to Indian Hinduism developed on the coast of contemporary Viet Nam. This is graphically illustrated by the remains of a series of impressive tower-temples located in a dramatic site that was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom for most of its existence. Located in the heart of a beautiful valley and surrounded by high mountains ranges My Son was named a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999. Originally built with wood, they were completely destroyed by fire in the 6th century and restored in the 7th century by Sambhuvarman who rebuilt the temples with locally made bricks. Up to the 13th century, more than 70 similar temples were built, establishing My Son as a sanctuary of Hinduism in the Champa Kingdom. Free time in the afternoon. Overnight in Hoi An.

This tour was wonderful, overall. My guide, Thanh, was very knowledgeable of all the locations and all the hotels were top notch, new and clean. There were some hiccups during the tour, but it was quickly resolved and made sure the tour continue smoothly. The only issue I had was that the guide was not fully informed of my tour. He thought my tour included dinner, which was not, so he subsequently booked some dinner reservations. I then had to reimbursed the dinners, which wasn't the issue as I did eat the food, but it would have been better for me to find my own dinner. I was on a tight budget, and the additional costs on food was more than I could afford.
