Tour’s Program

● Wander around the lost Champa Kingdom that dates back to the 3rd century
● Marvel at the beautiful valley surrounded by towering mountains
● Explore the temples and learn about the fascinating history behind this sanctuary of Hinduism
One of the most stunning sights to see in Hoi An area is My Son, Vietnam’s most important site of the ancient kingdom of Champa. Between the 4th and 13th century a unique culture which owed its spiritual origins to Indian Hinduism developed on the coast of contemporary Vietnam. This is graphically illustrated by the remains of a series of impressive tower-temples located in a dramatic site that was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom for most of its existence. Located in the heart of a beautiful valley and surrounded by high mountains ranges My Son was named a Cultural Heritage site by UNESCO in 1999. Originally built with wood, they were completely destroyed by fire in the 6th century and restored in the 7th century by Sambhuvarman who rebuilt the temples with locally made bricks. Up to the 13th century, more than 70 similar temples were built, establishing My Son as a sanctuary of Hinduism in the Champa Kingdom.
The My Son Sanctuary is a remarkable architectural ensemble that developed over a period of ten centuries. It presents a vivid picture of spiritual and political life in an important phase of the history of South-East Asia.

Tours Reviews

I did the My Son morning tour with my partner in mid July. We were picked up from our hotel about 730am on the day in a mini van, then collected another couple along the way at a hotel near ours there were only 6 ppl on our tour. We were then taken to a marble sculpture warehouse for a quick stop off then we headed off to the My Son site, about a 45 minute drive. It was a nice drive along the way through various towns, when we arrived we were dropped off at the entrance to the site gate and walked about 3 minutes to a shuttle which then drove us about 2 kms to the site. It was a fantastic tour and a great opportunity to take some photographs. The guide explained the various structures and who lived in them. Some were destroyed in the war so we weren't able to view these sites as there are virtually no remains left to see.
After viewing 4 of the sites about 5 minutes walk between each we headed back to the shuttle and then the mini van for the drive back to our hotel. Our guide was very friendly and took the time to explain Vietnamese culture along the way to the site and well as the history behind the site when we were there, there was a slight language barrier so it was hard sometimes to grasp exactly what was being explained.
I highly recommend this tour but one warning I felt wasn't noted anywhere was the heat!! We had been in Vietnam for over a week before this tour so we were well adjusted but being inland amongst the dense bushland the heat hit you like a wall walking to the shuttle bus. My partner and I are fit and in our late 20's, I got back in the bus and said to my partner that I had never experienced humidity and heat like that in any other travels or just life! It was hot!! There was some shade under trees but most of the ruins are out in the open with no relief, I had to walk away from the group one or two times to find some shade just for a few moments relief. I often thought about people a lot older or those who don't cope well in the heat, or those with medical conditions, I worry to think about where you would find medical help if needed. I must note the mini van had excellent air conditioning and it was heaven getting back in that bus! We even closed the air vents about half way through on the drive home as we were cold believe it or not! I suggest bringing a hat, layer on the sunscreen and bring plenty of water!! But a great experience!

The small group tour was perfect for us. We were a group on 4 adults and 3 children aged 11,8 and 3. This tour was 4.5 hours which was long enough with younger children. The tour guide was really knowledgable, he spoke good english and answered all our questions. They did keep up the pace but I was glad of this as we saw everything with enough time and before the heat set in. I would definitely recommend this.

The ancient relic was amazing in itself, but our guide's excellent knowledge and friendliness helped make the tour even more enjoyable. He listened and answered all our questions in great detail, had a wonderful way of telling stories about the history of the ruins, and gave us plenty of time to wander around the site by ourselves so we could appreciate the wonders of the place at our own pace. We took the afternoon tour, and almost had the place to ourselves, free of huge tour groups and unwanted noisiness. The serenity added to the mystical atmosphere of the ruins.

Nice half day tour in minivan with local guide and convenient pick up from hotel. We did the morning tour, the My Son sanctuary site was not too crowded. Beautiful place to visit close to nature, approximately one hours drive from Hoi An.

This is a great tour outside the city of Hoi An. This should be done in the morning as it gets quite hot later in the day. We were picked up on time at our hotel and returned by the stated time. You have to walk a little to get to the place where you see a Vietnamese dance show. The dancers and the dance was fascinating. Afterwards you are given time to visit the sites. Some are fully reconstructed and others are under reconstruction. Did not realize how old this particular site is. The guide was good and his English was excellent. Well worth the time and money for the tour. I recommend it!

This tour was great! It was just my sister and I, so it was nice to be on a small tour. Our guide was really passionate and knowledgable about religion and the ruins, and that made it special. We went in the morning, and by the time we left, it was sweltering, so that was nice as well.
