Ha Long

The Bay of Descending Dragons

Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it’s not hard to see why. The area is home to one of the world’s most unique and spectacular landscapes, where islands and limestone mountains majestically rise out of the emerald water.  The name ‘Halong Bay’ means ‘The Bay of descending Dragons’ and legend has it that a huge dragon swooped down from the mountains, lashing its long tail around causing land to fragment and form the 2000 or so islands.  Legend or not, this is one of the world’s most breathtaking bays and a must-see in Vietnam.

Cruise in comfort

Halong Bay’s most popular activity is cruising in comfort for 1-3 days aboard a luxury junk boat as it glides between some of the area’s most enchanting islands and islets. On a typical cruise guests get to spend the day gazing in wonder at the bay’s variety of fascinating features; karst covered mountains; islands encased in dense jungle, floating fishing villages and huge caves naturally decorated with stalactite and stalagmite.

Beach, jungle, caves, coves & coral reefs

The more active of guests can choose to kayak through the bay’s most beautiful sights or even indulge in a spot of sailing, cycling, hiking or rock climbing on Cat Ba, Halong Bay’s largest island. A nature-lover’s paradise, Cat Ba is a National Park featuring beaches, caves, coves, cliffs, forests, jungle, freshwater lakes and colorful coral reefs.
